Lincolnshire Home Independence Agency is a local, independent charity dedicated to helping those in need of support to live independently.
We offer 7 key services:
Trusted Assessment. We carry out holistic, whole-person, whole-house assessments of an individual’s needs and their support networks, related to independent living, creating a bespoke person-centred support plan. This includes setting up and maintaining the home, home adaptations and improvements, safety and security, income maximisation, life skills, and well-being, support and care services.
Advocacy, support, information, advice on funding and grants. Following an assessment we provide a wide range of generic support to establish full independent living arrangements, in addition to advocacy and liaison on all these areas. This includes information, advice and support on accessing grants, benefits and other funding which may pay for part or all of some adaptations. We also undertake means tests, benefits reviews and appeals.
Housing and care options advice. Our housing and care options advice service helps people who are struggling to continue living in their current home to assess their circumstances, and make an informed decision about suitable accommodation for the future. We then support them up to and through the actual move.
Home adaptations. We arrange and deliver home adaptations to suit persons with mild to severe requirements. Specifically, the design, specification, project management and associated technical support services for adaptations including bathroom adaptations (level access showers, baths), kitchen adaptations (low level units and equipment, gas/water shut off, non-slip flooring, etc), external adaptations (low level lighting, surface levelling, modular/fixed ramps, half steps, rails), door widening, stairlifts and lifting equipment (stair lifts, through-floor lifts, ceiling hoists, bath hoists), extensions and conversions.
Home improvements and repairs. We arrange and deliver property repairs ranging from minor jobs to extensive restoration. This includes the design and management of full house renovation to the Government’s Decent Homes Standard; specifically, the design, specification, project management and associated technical support services including identification and rectification of all 29 Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards covering bathrooms, kitchens, roofing, damp proofing, services, thermal efficiency, external lighting, doors and windows.
Handyperson and minor adaptations. The Handyperson service carries out small repairs and improvements around the home, including home safety (e.g. fixing trip hazards, fitting light bulbs), home security (e.g. locks, door chains, keysafes), odd jobs (e.g. fence repairs, flat pack furniture), minor wet plumbing and electrics, home energy and heating system repairs, upgrades and advice, and referrals to specialist services, e.g. fire safety. Typical minor adaptations include grab rails, hand rails, banister rails and step alterations.
Daily living aids. For those who need a little extra help with everyday tasks, we can offer over 3,000 products for rest and relaxation, home safety, eating and drinking, health and wellbeing, dressing and grooming, personal care, fitness and leisure, and generally making things easier.
